Paddle for Hope 2012
Help breast cancer survivor Karin Horen turn the sea pink in Auckland Viaduct for breast cancer rehab!
Have a go at Stand Up Paddling (SUP), try some SUP yoga, or join a relay team in the SUP race on Saturday 27 October in the Wynyard Quarter, Auckland Viaduct.
This fabulous pink ribbon event is raising money for the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation’s post surgery rehabilitation programmes, and promoting the vital role of exercise in health, wellbeing and rehabilitation.
The Paddle For Hope was initiated by Karin Horen as an annual event in 2011 and is very close to her heart. “I was diagnosed with breast cancer 13 years ago at the age of 26 , and had to go through chemotherapy and radiotherapy, operations and rehab. I have been volunteering from the moment I had the first all clear, and my goal is to help as many women as I can.
“I am so grateful that I can commit to all those I made a promise to 13 years ago. I am grateful to all the people who support the cause and raising awareness across NZ and the world. There is no single family that hasn’t been touched by this terrible disease.”
Join Karin on or off the water in this great community event. Register online or find out more at www.paddleforhope.co.nz
As teams enter the Paddle For Hope they are also encouraged to start a fundraising page on Everyday Hero. The race is not only on the water, but also to see who can raise the most funds with the sponsorship of their family and friends.
To donate money and help Karin and her team reach their $30,000 fundraising target please go to http://www.nzbcf-fundraising.org.nz/pink__international. All funds donated go directly to the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.
